Sound-Based Mindfulness for Stress Regulation and Compassion in Healthcare
This workshop presented to the Hospital for Sick Children, in collaboration with the Mindfulness Project, explores the use of sound-based mindfulness as an accessible and effective tool for stress regulation, burnout prevention and emotional resilience in healthcare environments. Drawing from research in mindfulness, music therapy, and self-compassion, sound is presented as a powerful attentional anchor that supports nervous system regulation, reduces cognitive overload and enhances present-moment awareness.
The session also highlights the role of self-compassion in mitigating compassion fatigue and fostering sustainable care. The talk concludes with a guided sound-based meditation, offering participants a direct experience of using sound and awareness to cultivate relaxation, connection and inner balance.
